Aerospace Rotatives Robotic Marking Cell

Pryor's Aerospace Rotative Component Robotic Marking Cell automates the application of a unique Dot Peen identification mark on large aerospace components. With a horizontal rotational axis, the system is ideal for direct part marking of large rotative aero engine components, which often need permanent traceability on multiple, difficult to access marking locations.

The multi-axis robot, with integrated vision, engraves alphanumeric and Data Matrix codes to industry standard marking specifications such as AS9132, UID, JES131 and RRES90003.

Combining robotics, Dot Peen marking, vision technology and windows-based software, this flexible system allows manufacturers to mark a wide variety of component shapes and sizes. How Aerospace Rotative Robotic Marking Cell Works:

Component is loaded into the cell and secured using flexible fixturing; situated on a rotary table the three point fixturing can internally or externally clamp a wide variety of component sizes and shapes, including discs and cylinders

Operator scans work card/barcode to fetch networked data (Pryor traceability system is easily integrated to existing manufacturing management system); avoiding operator mistakes

Software and vision system finds reference point on component and begins the process of marking a pre-programmed layout

A variety of and numerous unique identification marks can be applied; for traceability including machine readable 2D Data Matrix codes and human readable alphanumeric codes, assembly and downstream maintenance information

Marking software has the ability to offset mark location relative to a specific feature on the part

Mark location accuracy, as defined by AS9132 and stringent manufacturer standards, is easily achieved by the robot and vision system which can work to a 0.1mm tolerance

The vision system then verifies mark quality and location meet aerospace standards

The networked data linked to the component, via the unique ID, creates a passport for the component which can be verified throughout the supply chain; as it is assembled into an aero-engine, installed into an aircraft and maintained throughout the life of the engine
