Shortlisted for Three Made in Yorkshire Awards
This week, Insider Media announced the shortlisted companies for the Made in Yorkshire 2020 Manufacturing Awards, revealing Pryor has been shortlisted for three:
1. Digital Engineering/Technology Award - recognising the role of Pryor's manufacturing software in the transformation of its customers operations, with the introduction of full-lifecycle traceability, data capture and quality control. Not only does Pryor software deliver quality and production savings to OEMs, component suppliers are able to offer it to their customers as a clear value add proposition to help them win and retain business.
2. Manufacturing Innovation Award - Pryor successfully developed a new way of marking Vehicle Identification Numbers on chassis, engines and gearboxes, using a high-powered laser system, for a major automotive OEM. The success of Pryor's fully robotic, laser VIN marking system was the catalyst for the company to establish a dedicated Automation Division at the Sheffield headquarters which, in 2019, enabled Pryor to achieve its highest ever turnover in 170 years of trading.
3. Manufacturer of the Year (Under £25M) - three key factors of Pryor's success in 2019, part of the company's growth strategy formed in 2014, are the establishment of an Automation Division, a USA subsidiary and the re-shoring of all production back to Sheffield.
Now in its 170th year of manufacturing in Sheffield City Centre, Pryor continues to thrive through a combination of innovation, reinvestment and employee retention. Pryor's recent success has enabled the company to invest in new staff and apprentices and continue to modernise the manufacturing facility in Sheffield.
The structure of Pryor Marking Technology is unique and allows the company to share profits with the local community. The majority shareholder is the Ronald and Kathleen Pryor Charity. As such, the company has a long and proud history of supporting activities in the local community, which often serve to highlight the integral role of manufacturing in the area, as a source of employment and future prosperity.
Best of luck team Pryor!
