Richard Hearn retires after 42 years with Pryor
Richard started his career with Pryor in January 1977 as a Production Control Assistant, after seeing the job advertised in the Sheffield Star. Richards name is actually Peter Hearn but has been known by his middle name, Richard, for his entire 42 years with Pryor because there was already a Peter in the office.
Over the years, Richard has worked in a variety of roles, from assistant buyer to production control manager, but is now looking forward to having a rest after four decades of work. When asked what encouraged him to stay with Pryor for over forty years, Richard said, “friendly people, it’s easy to get to by public transport and car, there is a good pension scheme and there are opportunities for advancement.”
“The manufacturing industry has changed massively over the past forty years. From paper-based, hand-written record systems, employing numerous clerks which has slowly changed to computer-based systems. Many machine tools are now computer controlled which is reflected in Pryor’s range of machines.”
“My advice for younger employees at Pryor is, work hard and always try to improve the organisation and yourself.”
Congratulations and best wishes from everyone at Pryor.
